The landfill’s new entrance facility includes a scalehouse, a place to drop off household refuse, a recycle drop-off, and a “Take It or Leave It” area for reusable construction materials. This new, more efficient entrance facility means refuse drop-off will be more convenient for small trucks and cars.
There is no charge for residential users of county landfills. Commercial haulers and businesses hauling their own waste must have a commercial account. Applications for commercial accounts are available at the scalehouse, and county offices on Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and in Hana.
PLEASE KOKUA: Windblown plastic and cardboard create problems at the landfill. Please tie plastic bags into one bag , and help prevent landfill litter by recycling cardboard, plastic and other materials in county drop boxes. Yard trimmings must be taken to a compost company.
